After you have installed and initially configured Dell Warranty Import, you are now able to perform "Get Contract" requests on any Dell hardware asset.

With Dell Warranty Import, you are provided the following two Business Rules that you can turn on if they align with your asset management requirements:

  • "Get Contract for New Asset", when a new Dell hardware asset is created and has a serial number, retrieve that asset's contract immediately.

  • "Get Contract on Asset Update", when an existing Dell hardware asset is updated with a new serial number, retrieve that asset's contract immediately.

Please reference the Best Practice Guidance KB article describing how to set up this feature alongside other configurable features.

The following steps walk you through the configuration and setup of the "Get Contract for New Asset" and "Get Contract on Asset Update" Business Rules, and then how to use these features on a day to day basis to manage your hardware contracts.
